According to report, Arsenal will complete the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this month in a deal that will see Olivier Giroud head in the opposite direction to Borussia Dortmund.
That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and legendary Liverpool defender Steve Nicol.
A potential swap deal for Dortmund star Aubameyang and Arsenal’s Giroud has been mooted over the last week.
Arsenal representatives are in Germany looking to finalise a deal for the Gabon international but Dortmund are said to want Giroud plus cash for him.
But he says Borussia Dortmund would have to change their style slightly to accommodate the tall 31-year-old.
“I think this happens,” Nicol said.
“There’s been too much talk and Arsenal are definitely trying to make some moves.
“I don’t think getting (Henrikh) Mkhitaryan for (Alexis) Sanchez is the last one that they’ll do.
“He’s a completely different player to Aubameyang. Aubameyang is about running in behind and using his pace, Olivier Giroud is all about holding the ball up.
“This guy plays regularly for France, that’s what (Didier) Deschamps wants him to do, to hold it up so that Griezmann can get around him.
“I think he’ll go and I think you’ll see a slight change in the way they play and they’ll end up using a target man and obviously expect some goals on top of it.”
