Arsenal have told Chelsea to pay as much as £35m for their transfer target Olivier Giroud, this is according to reports.
Arsenal have reportedly agree a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and it is suggested that Giroud has been put up for sale following the imminent arrival of the Gabonese forward.
Chelsea have been scampering for the services of a striker and they were reportedly close to signing Edin Dzeko. With the deal of Dzeko now seemingly off, they have turned their attention to Olivier Giroud.
However, Arsenal have asked the Blues to pay £35m if they must get the French forward to play them before the close of the window, reports Daily Mail.
Giroud was wanted in a swap deal with Aubameyang by Dortmund but the French forward wants to stay in the Premier League and reports have indicated that he is most likely going to end up lacing his boots for Chelsea.
Giroud is looking to at the prospect of playing in the World Cup and if he completes the move to Chelsea, he will rival the injury-prone Alvaro Morata for a place in the Blues’ squad. Another huge temptation for Giroud is that he will play in the Champions League should the deal go through.
Chelsea fans are currently dissatisfied with the recruitment of Chelsea – many have posited that Giroud will add little or no value to their quest for titles.
