Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has taken to social media and provided a small update on his recovery from knee surgery.
The Gunners were rocked just days before their Europa League round of 32 first-leg tie against Ostersunds when it was confirmed that the France international was to miss up to six weeks of action through injury thus leaving Danny Welbeck as the only available senior striker for the trip to Sweden.
With January transfer signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ineligible for the competition as per Uefa rules, Lacazette was expected to spearhead the north London outfit’s attempts to win a European trophy for the first time under Arsene Wenger.
However, he watched from the sidelines his teammates overcame the Swedish side 3-0 and the Gunners boss revealed why the decision to allow the centre forward to have surgery was made so swiftly: “Lacazette had knee surgery and he won’t be available for the Europa League game unfortunately,” Wenger told beIN Sports.
