Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will remain at the North London club for as long as he wishes, according to French media outlet Le10 Sports.

The Sport Journal reports that the Gunners board of directors are not ready to show the 68-year-old manager the exit door by the end of the season despite the manager’s lack of trophies.

After their discussions on Monday in France, Arsenal hierarchy have decided that they are happy with the financial benefits they have enjoyed since Wenger took charge of the club’s managerial position in 1997, and they wish to continue working with him for more seasons.

Arsenal fans seem to have lost their trust in the manager’s ability and they have been calling for his sack since last season, but the boards gave a deaf ear to their calls as they offered him a two-year contract extension which will expire by the end of the 2018-19 season.

Wenger had earlier told reporters he would love to stay at the Emirates stadium till his current contract expires in 2019. The Frenchman has been under huge pressure to qualify his team for next season’s Champions League competition as they occupy the sixth position behind Tottenham who are in the fifth position with 52 points.

Having signed Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United respectively in the winter transfer market, Wenger seems to be preparing for the next season which could be his last season as Arsenal boss.
