Arsenal are set to rival Manchester United in the pursuit of Nice’s Ivorian midfield dynamo Jean-Michael Seri.
The Sun reports that Arsenal have enquired over the availability of the 26-year-old, who is available for £35million due a release clause in his contract which will expire in mid-2019.
United and Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for the player, while Barcelona – who nearly signed him at the start of the current campaign – have also retained an interest.
Yet it is Arsenal who would most benefit from Seri’s all-action presence in their midfield: Jack Wilshere is out of contract at the end of the season, Granit Xhaka has failed to justify his hefty price tag and Egyptian Mohamed Elneny has struggled for regular playing time.
Seri has established himself as one of Europe’s best box-to-box midfielders since joining Nice from Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira in 2015.
