Arsenal reportedly made a huge move to sign Malcom from Bordeaux in the January transfer window.
According to a report from German news outlet Sport Bild, as cited by Football London, the Gunners did indeed make a bid to land the Brazilian in January but saw their efforts rebuffed by Bordeaux.
Malcom has been in superb form in Ligue 1 this season after bursting onto the scene last term. As a consequence of this, he has been attracting the interest of a number of top clubs across Europe.
If Bild are to be believed, the Gunners lodged a huge offer worth €42 million for the youngster but Bordeaux declined their attempts. It’s stated that Gus Poyet’s side were willing to negotiate only if their asking price of €50m was met. This was not including their apparent demands of €10m in add-ons, either.
Arsene Wenger is known to be an admirer of Malcom and his talents but could face competition for the winger’s signature in the summer transfer window, with Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich recently linked.
