Arsenal hero Charlie Nicholas reckons the club will soon make an announcement that Arsene Wenger will leave the club in the summer.

Wenger is under serious pressure at Arsenal after four successive defeats in all competitions.

The Frenchman has always maintained he will not break a contract, with his current deal expiring in 2019.

Arsenal currently sit sixth in the Premier League table and see their only realistic chance of qualifying for the Champions League by winning the Europa League.

I think I’ve been saying it on Soccer Saturday mainly for about two-and-a-half years which is I’ve lost my anger because the team is so poor,” Nicholas said on Sky Sports.

“But when you lose your anger and you calm down a little bit, you get a realistic view of where you are.

“Then I’d like this weekend or the following week for Arsene to announce that this summer will be the end and he will move on, and then let’s go for the Europa League.

“We’re losing the fabric of what Arsene brought to this great football club.

“Greatness takes longer to achieve than losing and becoming failures and you can see that happening now. It’s a bit embarrassing.

“Please, calm down Arsenal fans, I think there will be an announcement soon and I think Arsene will go in the summer.”
