Former Arsenal star Martin Keown has revealed the cause of Arsene Wenger’s problems.

Keown revealed Wenger should sell Shkodran Mustafi, Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka after a series of poor performance which has caused the team to miss out in winning any silverware this season.

The north London side sit sixth in the Premier League, 13 points behind arch-rivals Tottenham who are fourth.

They were thrashed 3-0 by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final and crashed out of the FA Cup to Nottingham Forest.

However, all is not over after a strong 2-0 victory over Milan at the San Siro kept their Europa League dream alive.

Winning the competition would guarantee Champions League football next season, similarly to Manchester United last year.

But former Gunners defender Keown has told whoever is in charge next year there must be big changes – starting with key members of the playing staff.

When asked who needs to put in a performance against AC Milan before the match, he told BT Sport: “Everyone.

“Ozil – the next manager coming in at the end of the season, as it looks as if it’s happening, might want to sell Ozil.

“He’s not the sort of player who would show enough grit and determination, for me.

“Yes, he’s the icing on the cake, he’s a quality player. You want everyone to perform.

“I think someone like Wilshere you should be building the future around.

“Is Xhaka, Mustafi? So many departments have to show they have a future at that football club.”
