Former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech looks more prone to errors since the start of this season than when he was at Chelsea. The Czech international could be blamed for the two goals scored by Brighton last Sunday after misjudging a corner that led to Lewis Dunk’s goal and also the second goal scored by Glenn Murray.
It is believed that goalkeepers become more effective as they grow older, but that seems to be incorrect with Cech who was more reliable when he was much younger. Having seen the netminder fumble in some games this season, Arsene Wenger is set to replace him by the end of the season.
The Frenchman is reportedly interested in Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno who has been in a great form for the Bundesliga side so far this season. According to the Mail, Wenger is desperately eyeing a move for the Germany international as he hopes to integrate him into his starting lineup ahead of the 2018-19 season should he remain as the Gunners manager.
Many fans thought that second-choice goalkeeper David Ospina who has proven to be the best solution to Arsenal’s goalkeeping crisis, could easily replace the Czech goalkeeper next season, but Wenger seems unconvinced with Ospina’s performances at training.
Bernd, 26, has featured in 280 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen and he is currently rated as one of the best goalies in the German league.
