England international midfielder Jack Wilshere whose career was rejuvenated earlier this season could be moving out of the Emirates Stadium as a free agent in the summer after the Gunners failed to offer him a contract extension, according to reports.

It was earlier reported last January via the Daily Mirror that the England international is in talks with the board hierarchy over a new contract offer, but their discussions didn’t go as planned. The report also suggest that Wilshere’s weekly wages would be slashed from 100k to £80k should he accept the new offer.

While reacting to the uncertainty surrounding his stay£ at the club, Jack Wilshere admits that he is not close to renewing his contract due to the financial slash-down in the contract offered by the Gunners.

The 26-year-old midfielder is in the last months of his current contract and the Gunners are hoping he signs a new contract ahead of next season.

At the moment, Jack Wilshere believes his focus is on helping the Gunners to their first ever Europa League trophy by the end of the season. The Gunners are in sixth position, 13 points behind Tottenham who sit in the fourth position. Arsene Wenger has admitted that his team might be unable to achieve their top-four target by the end of the season.

This means that the North London club must become Europa League Champions by the end of the season if they must qualify for next season’s Champions League competition and Wilshere believes it’s a possible task for the Gunners.

“There are some good teams left in it but we’re confident in ourselves,” said Wilshere.
