As per a report from Spanish outlet Don Balon this afternoon, Premier League outfit Arsenal are preparing a substantial offer for Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric.
Modric, now 32, has been on the books of Real Madrid since 2012, when he made the move to the Bernabeu from Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for a fee in the region of £30 million.
And the Croatian international has since gone on to establish himself as one of (and in the eyes of many, the) finest midfielder in world football, with his partnership alongside Toni Kroos and Casemiro the base upon which much of Real’s recent success has been built.
To this point in his career with Los Blancos, Modric has racked up 1 La Liga title, 1 Copa Del Rey, 1 Spanish Super Cup, 3 Champions Leagues, 3 Uefa Super Cups and 3 FIFA Club World Cup titles.
However, despite the fact that Modric is still viewed as an absolutely crucial element of Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI in the Spanish capital (29 appearances this season), rumours stemming from Spain this afternoon have suggested that Arsenal are planning a massive offer for the experienced Croatian.
The report, courtesy of Don Balon, claims that Arsene Wenger has identified Modric as the perfect addition to his side’s midfield, with the Gunners ready to offer £53 million for the Dinamo Zagreb youth product in the summer.
