Jose Mourinho has ordered Manchester United to conduct a second transfer raid of Arsenal this summer, according to reports.
United poached Alexis Sanchez from the Emirates in January as the Chilean ran down his contract and forced Arsenal to cash in on him before his deal expired. Aaron Ramsey, also targeted by Chelsea, is now at the top of Mourinho’s summer wishlist and the United boss is a massive admirer of the Welshman.
The Daily Star claim Mourinho wants to pounce on another contract mess at Arsenal to bring Ramsey to Old Trafford. Ramsey’s current contract expires next summer and Arsenal have become increasingly worried the midfielder will refuse to sign an extension, just as Sanchez did.
If the Wales international does stall on penning a new contract, Arsenal may be forced to sell this summer so as to avoid being held to ransom by another one of their prized assets.
Ramsey is said to be considering his future at the club amid turmoil at Arsenal and with uncertainty around Arsene Wenger’s future.
Wenger is under increasing pressure to step aside at the end of the season and the Arsenal board are said to be exploring the appointment of a new manager. The addition of Sanchez in January has failed to spark an attacking revival at United, as first hoped, and Paul Pogba is consistently playing below his ability.
