Premier League giant Arsenal could sanction Lacazette’s move out of Emirates Stadium in the summer should he fail to return to form before the end of the season, former Arsenal player Alan Smith suggested.
The Frenchman has failed to live up to his billings despite his blistering start to the season where he scored eight goals in 16 matches. The former Lyon striker who joined Arsenal for a then club-record fee of £46.5m during the last summer transfer, has seen his goalscoring rate drastically reduced as he has scored a single goal since the Gunners 3-1 lost to Manchester United last December.
While reacting to the Frenchman’s misfortunes at the North London club, Arsenal legend Alan Smith admits the Frenchman could be sold to one of the interested clubs this summer as Wenger seems to have lost his patience with the striker.
According to report via goal.com, Alan believes with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang in Arsene Wenger’s starting lineup, it will be hard for Lacazette to get much playing-time to prove his worth to the club’s hierarchy before the end of the season.
“He may not be the player that Arsenal thought he was. He started off well but you can look like a world beater in France and just not make the grade in England. Arsenal have a few other players to show that. They may even have to offload him if he doesn’t come good,” he said.
The addition of former Manchester United player Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seems to have brought a spark to Arsenal attacking department as they now look more dangerous and threatening than they’ve been all through this season.
Welbeck, Alex Iwobi, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Hector Bellerin have are all been linked with a summer move out of the club.
