Arsenal have confirmed that midfielder Mohamed Elneny has put pen to paper on a new deal.
The midfielder’s old contract expired in 2020 but the new deal will see him tied down until 2022.
The 25-year-old had been linked with moves away from the club in January after making only seven starts in the Premier League this season.
The Egyptian has seen most of his game time come in cup competitions, making eight starts in the Europa League.
Both Leicester City and West Ham were linked with a move for the midfielder in January but a deal did not materialise.
Despite signing a new deal, it is yet to be seen whether or not Elneny’s future remains at the Emirates beyond the end of the season.
The player joined Arsenal back in 2016 from Swiss side Basel and has gone on to make 65 appearances in all competitions.
