Forgotten Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is eyeing a return to the first-team, despite his contract set to expire.
The Spanish playmaker has not featured for Arsene Wenger’s side since injuring his achilles in October 2016.
Now 33, Cazorla is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
Wenger has already made it clear that Cazorla will not be offered a new deal at the club due to his ongoing injury problems.
After an infection in his leg spread, Cazorla revealed last year that doctors were debating whether to remove his foot to stop any further injuries.
Surgeons also used skin from his tattooed arm to cover the infected area.
Yet, according to El Confidencial, Cazorla “would like to return, but at Arsenal they are skeptical” following his long lay-off from football.
The Spaniard, who joined from Malaga in 2012 has gone on to make 129 Premier League apperances, scoring 25 times.
