Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere are set to hand Arsene Wenger a fitness boost as the Arsenal manager prepares to juggle his squad for their Europa League semi-final.

Ramsey and Wilshere missed Sunday’s Premier League defeat at Newcastle after sustaining injuries in the Gunners quarter-final, second leg at CSKA Moscow.

Ramsey posted a picture on Instagram of at least six staples in his leg which allowed him to play the full 90 minutes in the Russian capital, where he scored the equalising goal late on for a 2-2 draw on the night that gave Arsenal a 6-3 aggregate win and set up a semi-final against Atletico Madrid.

Wilshere told reporters he had received a kick to his right ankle which prompted his 69th-minute substitution. Both are expected to return to full training this week ahead of Sunday’s League visit of West Ham but Wenger will already have one eye on the first leg against Atletico, which takes place at Emirates Stadium on Thursday week.
