Arsenal are reportedly sceptical about giving injury-hit Santi Cazorla a new deal.
The Spanish midfielder has endured a nightmare on the sidelines since October 2016 that has included his foot almost being amputated.
Cazorla’s contract runs out at the end of the season and El Confidencial are reporting that he wants to stay at the club.
However, due to his long injury lay-off, the report also suggests the club are debating whether to extend his stay at the Emirates.
Cazorla, 33, has undergone ten operations are suffering a series of infections on his Achilles tendon.
He revealed last year that doctors were debating whether to remove his foot to stop and further injuries.
Surgeons also used skin from his tattooed arm to cover the infected area.
But Cazorla has been determined to once again step out on the pitch for the team he joined in a £10million deal from Malaga in 2012.
Cazorla was at the Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City in February and said he was recovering well and could be back soon.
He said: “Hi guys, the first thing I want to say is thank you for the support, and I will try and come back as soon as possible. Enjoy the game!”
