Former Barcelona and Roma coach Luis Enrique is now said to be the leading candidate that will replace Frenchman Arsene Wenger as Arsenal’s manager at the end of the season.

On Friday afternoon, Arsene Wenger announced that he will be leaving the Gunners at the end of the season after spending 22 years at the London based club. And according to the latest report by Daily Mail, Arsenal have approached 47-year-old Luis Enrique to replace Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.

In-fact, the report added that only an unexpected glitch in negotiations can prevent the former Spanish professional footballer from replacing Wenger this summer. Enrique has been out of a job since leaving as Barcelona boss last year as he brought success to the Catalans over a three-year period. He won a total of nine trophies including two La Liga titles and one Champions League.

The Frenchman has been at the North London club since 1996 and has won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups. His side’s incredible undefeated season will remain one of the greatest achievements in Premier League history, while the Gunners managed to break Manchester United’s dominance in the late 90s and early 2000s.
