Sporting star William Carvalho leaves the club, North London giants Arsenal will continue to be heavily linked with a swoop for him.
Arsenal favourite to sign Portuguese
Of all the Premier League sides strongly linked with a move for him, it’s the Gunners who have been more covered in the Portuguese media in recent summers. And now the Gunners back on the back pages.
With Portuguese publication Jornal de Notcias claiming a Carvalho departure from the Portuguese club close is to happen, the North Londoners are seen as the possible destination.
Arsenal are once again linked with a move for the player, and the valuation is put at about €40m, if that hasn’t dropped after recent negotiations and troubles at the Portuguese club. Reports also states that Sporting and Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio, is also available at about €15million.
Transfer depends on Arsene’s successor
Alot will depend on who succeeds Arsene Wenger at the Emirates, and how much recruitment control the new tactician is given in the summer.
With Club Chief Sven Mislintat’s transfer targets expected to be a priority, it seems the new man in charge won’t simply get his wish.
The club may well think they can get better players for €40m than Carvalho, with Sporting not known for negotiation.
