Arsenal have handed young defender Rob Holding a new long-term contract after 20-year-old showed signs that he’s a player for the long term and could feature in the plans of the club. The youngster joined Premier League side last year from Bolton last year and he’ has an excellent start to his top-flight footballing career at Emirates.
He posted on Twitter to announce the new long-term contract when he replied a tweet from the official Arsenal account: “Delighted to have extended my contract with @arsenal. Really looking forward to the exciting years ahead. Thank you for all the support from everyone!”
It is a good indication for the defender that the club values him and will stay at if he keeps improving. The defender is expected to get more playing time at the club next season as Per Mertesacker is retiring while Shkrodan Mustafi is not performing at the demanded level and the only trusted person is Captain Laurent Koscielny who is always battling against his ankle injury.
The future looks bright for the Englishman if he can get a chance at the first team and hold down his place.
