Algerian and Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez is looking to further his career away from the KingPower Stadium, setting his sight on a move to Arsenal, according to report.

Mahrez was firmly on the transfer radar of Arsenal in the penultimate season but the Gunners failed to table a bid for him at that time. It was thought that Arsenal would broker a deal for him in the last January transfer window but all the reports linking him turned false.

Mahrez made his desire to leave Leicester City known to the brass of the club and he tabled a transfer request to the club when Manchester City came calling in January but the resolve of the Foxes to hold on to him could not be broken. Reports have indicated that the Algerian forward has withdrawn the transfer request but he still wants a move regardless.

Arsenal are expecting a new manager and Mahrez wants to join the London club instead of Tottenham and City, reports the Daily Star.

Manchester City made offers for the player in the January transfer window but Skysports revealed that Mahrez is uncertain over his future with Leicester City.

“I am still contracted to Leicester and at the moment I am here so we will see.

“At that time I handed in a transfer request because I had offers from Manchester City, so obviously I wanted to go, but now I am still in Leicester.

“With me especially you never know what is happening. Every time I have to go but I am still here, so I don’t really want to talk about I’m going, I’m staying, you know.

“I just want to finish the next three games and we will see what will happen to me.

Mahrez is valued at 50,00 Mill. € according to transfermarkt.
