Arsenal have joined the race to sign PSG left back Layvin Kurzawa according to Metro. Arsenal will have to fend off interest from Manchester United and Chelsea if they are to hope of gaining Kurzawa’s signature. Despite reports from RMC, that Arsenal are yet to find a replacement manager, the Gunners are already investigating replacement defenders, as they attempt to strengthen their squad ahead of the next season.

Saed Kolasinac has failed to make a real impact during his time at The Emirates. Signing for free from Schalke almost a year ago, he has failed to make the position his own and has thus found himself being rotated in and out of the squad this season. In recent months Nacho Monreal has been the go-to left back for Arsene Wenger, but the 32-year-old is ageing fast and only has a year left on his current contract. In addition to this is Arsenal are to challenge for the title next season, they will require the likes of Kurzawa to challenge the world class opposition in Manchester.

However, like Kolasinac, Layvin Kurzawa has struggled since signing for the French giants, PSG. Beginning the season as Unai Emery’s first choice left back, Kurzawa’s performances dipped significantly and were overshadowed by the meteoric rise of Yuri Berchiche. The 25-year-old, Layvin Kurzawa was once again left to watch the game from the bench as PSG clinched the French Cup against Les Herbiers. Unai Emery has not been the only critic of Kurzawa’s performances, the player himself had this to say, report the Metro:

I know what I can do, and don’t think I have performed to the best of my ability this season. It is a problem for me.

I have never been satisfied with my displays this year, and I have felt annoyed when I have gone home after games.

United will look to capture the signature of Layvin Kurzawa this summer, however, as Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw are both expected to leave soon and a major re-shuffle at United is about to commence. And with Kurzawa expected to leave French Capital this summer, a battle over his signature is sure to begin.
