Arsenal face a battle to convince Massimiliano Allegri to be their next manager with reports suggesting he has three major reservations about replacing Arsene Wenger.

Allegri, 50, is set to lead Juventus to a fourth straight Serie A title and has emerged as one of the most likely candidates to replace Wenger at the Emirates.

Wenger won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups at Arsenal but leaves the club under a cloud with the team once again failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Allegri is believed to be intrigued about the possibility of taking over at Arsenal and would be keen to work in England at some point in his career, having spent over a decade in Italy.

But, according to Yahoo Sport, Allegri is concerned by the quality of the current Arsenal squad and with the club’s willingness to fund new signings this summer.

Allegri has two years remaining on his current contract at Juventus but Yahoo say he will demand significant spending in this summer’s transfer market to stay for a fifth season.

Speaking this week, Allegri said: ‘I have a contract with Juventus and, as we do every year, we will meet at the end of the season to plan the future.

‘We need a clear understanding of how to improve again. We haven’t reached our maximum because we have lost two Champions League finals.’
