Mikel Arteta is said to be planning for his announcement as Arsenal’s next manager with the Manchester City coach keen to hit the ground running at the Emirates.
The Spaniard has emerged as the favourite to replace Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola confirmed on Sunday that he would not stand in the former Arsenal man’s way if he wanted to join the Gunners.
Arsenal had been interested in former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique but were put off by his £15m-a-year wage demands and have whittled their list down to Arteta, Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri and Patrick Vieira.
However, according to the Independent, Arteta is increasingly likely to charge and the Spaniard is already planning his backroom team at the Emirates.
Arteta is seen as the smoothest option available to Arsenal as the Spaniard has been at the club before and is likely to keep some of those already at the club, while those already there are more open to working with him due to his previous association.
