According to reports from the Metro, claims Arsenal would appoint form midfielder Mikel Arteta as a replacement for Arsene Wenger who leaves after 22 years in charge.

Skysport claims Arteta will ask Santi Cazorla to be his assistant manager at Arsenal if given the full-time job.

A number of names have been linked with the post ever since the Frenchman announced he would be leaving.

Wenger is calling time on his 22 years at the north London club, leaving as the long serving manager in their history.

Luis Enrique, Carlo Ancelotti and Massimiliano Allegri are some of the more famous names to be touted to take over.

But report have heavily linked the Spaniard with a deal to take over Arsenal this summer.

There were voices at the Arsenal hierarchy that wanted an established name to be the new manager.

But key members of the board, namely Ivan Gazidis and Josh Kroenke, wanted to take the club into a new direction with a young coach.

And the Independent have reported that talks between Arteta and the Gunners have now reached a stage where the Spaniard has revealed his backroom staff demands.
