Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

According to ESPN Pundit Shaka Hislop, reveals Unai Emery will be a success at Arsenal if he can get them back into the Champions League.

Emery is poised to succeed Arsene Wenger at Arsenal and there is set to a news conference to confirm his appointment later this week.

Mikel Arteta was previously the frontrunner for the job, but after a thorough recruitment process, Emery was reportedly deemed the unanimous choice.

Wenger left the Gunners after 22 years with the club contending with Europa League football after a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League.

While Emery picked up five trophies in two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, he will be working with a tighter transfer budget at the Gunners.

And ESPN pundit Hislop thinks providing a top-four finish will be considered a success.

“I think the bar is much lower compared to PSG when you talk about Arsenal,” Hislop said when discussing Emery’s appointment.

“It has been lowered over the past few years. Despite his failures at PSG, you can’t question Unai Emery and his success with Sevilla and Valencia.

“If he can bring them back into the Champions League in his times there and if he can do that for Arsenal, it will be a huge success.

“You don’t have to go deep in the Champions League and that’s not the remit right now.

“You just have to get back there somehow.

“If he can do that, he will be hailed as a success.

“I actually like this appointment.”
