The Daily Star are reporting Arsenal could sign Stuttgart defender Benjamin Pavard.
The French youngster, 22, has not missed a Stuttgart first-team game this season and his progress has attracted attention from abroad.
The defender, who joined VfB in 2016 from Lille, has a deal to 2019 and recently swerved new contract talks.
The Gunners are interested in the France international, who will be at the World Cup in Russia.
Pavard, 22, is primarily a right-back but impressed at centre-half throughout the Bundesliga season.
Unai Emery’s side are expected to strengthen at the back following Laurent Koscielny’s long-term ankle injury and Per Mertesacker’s retirement.
And it appears Arsenal have a major advantage over Borussia Dortmund in the race to land Pavard.
According to CalcioInsider, the former Lille star’s dream is to play in the Premier League.
Pavard, who is valued at £44m, has informed Stuttgart of his desire to switch Germany for England amid Arsenal’s interest.
CalcioInsider add Pavard is prepared to sacrifice playing in Europe’s elite club competition and join Arsenal, who have Europa League football to contend with again next term.
