Unai Emery is set to use much of Arsenal’s summer budget on securing the future of Aaron Ramsey, according to reports.
The Welshman enjoyed a solid season with the Gunners this year, scoring 11 goals and assisting 12 in all competitions.
But there have been question marks over his future with his contract running out at the end of next season.
Chelsea and United are front of the queue for the former Cardiff ace, who has yet to give any inclination that he will pen a new deal.
And the Telegraph are reporting that new boss Emery wants to tie down Ramsey – and will set aside much of his budget to do so.
Negotiations have so far failed with the Emirates outfit offering a deal just over £100,000-a-week.
However, the 27-year-old is wanting a contract morein the region of £200,000-a-week.
He reportedly believes that due to his loyalty he should be given similar wages to Mesut Ozil.
The German playmaker is earning in the region of £350,000-a-week.
But Emery is such a big fan of Ramsey that he is willing to use much of his summer budget to keep him at the club, according to the Telegraph.
It has also been revealed that the Gunners would have to sell the Wales international this sumemr to avoid him leaving for free.
And as a result his transfer fee would take a hit, which means finding a comparable replacement would be difficult.
Arsenal have already delved into the transfer market, signing Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free from Juventus.
The Gunners are also close to acquiring Borussia Dortmund star Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
