According to the Watford Observer, Unai Emery and Arsenal are set to choose between Abdoulaye Doucoure and Stephen N’Zonzi, as they look to sign a combative defensive midfielder.

Arsenal have lacked a defensive powerhouse in midfield, with Arsene Wenger being heavily criticised over the fact that his midfield has been too weak over the past few years.

However, with the arrival of Emery, The Gunners look likely to be finally plugging a gap, with either Watford’s Doucoure, or Sevilla’s N’Zonzi.

Arsenal have been linked with N’Zonzi for years now, but a move has never come through, however, with Emery now in charge, a transfwr could finally happen, with the two being familiar with each-other from their time together at Sevilla, where N’Zonzi thrived.

Doucoure has had a class season for Watford so he already has more recent experience of the Premier League than N’Zonzi, who had shaky spells at Blackburn and Stoke before joining Sevilla.
