While Arsenal have always failed to get their men, Sport journalist Duncan Castles claims that the Gunners will secure a deal for Germany and Bayern Leverkuson goalkeeper Bernd Leno, per reports.
Leno has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates since the opening of the transfer window but the North London club are yet to secure a deal for him.
The Gunners desire to sign the shot-stopper stems from the poor form of Petr Cech who let in goals with reckless abandon. Leno is expected to come in as a long term replacement for Cech but that may also signal the end of the spell of David Ospina.
Arsenal are expected to pay about £25m-30m for the services of the player but they will slug it out with Liverpool, who are equally linked with a move for him.
Meanwhile, Sunday Times reporter Castles reckons that Arsenal are favourites for the player’s signature and they will seal a deal for him sooner.
“An even cheaper option is Leno,” Castles told the Transfer Window podcast when asked if Liverpool FC will bid for Leno.
“He will probably be sold this summer because his club have already replaced him. He has interest from a number of clubs, including Arsenal. It would probably be a £25m-30m deal.”
Arsenal appointed new manager Unai Emery as replacement for Arsene Wenger and the Spanish tactician has already completed a deal for former Juventus star Stephan Lichtsteiner.
Arsenal will open their Premier league campaign against Manchester City in the upcoming season.
