Arsenal have joined the race for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Lewis Dunk this summer, according to reports.
TeamTalk report that Arsenal are set for talks for the Brighton defender, after the Premier League club signed Portsmouth’s Matt Clarke as a replacement.
Brighton have set an asking price of £30m, and Leicester City are also interested.
Dunk has a contract with Brighton until 2023, and he made 38 appearances for the club this season, most of which were as captain.
The 6’3″ 27-year-old has a couple of years of Premier League experience now, as well as making his England debut during the 2018/19 season.
He’s excellent at making blocks and winning aerial duels, not shying away from the physical side of the game at all.
There’s always a premium on English players playing in the Premier League, so it would be no surprise if Brighton were looking for £30m.
Arsenal could use an extra homegrown player or two, particularly at centre-back.
Whether they can afford to spend that much this summer remains to be seen.
