Djibril Niang, the agent of Lucien Agoumé, has admitted that Arsenal are ‘waiting’ on his client but they are not his preferred destination.
Agoumé currently plays for FC Sochaux-Montbéliard and there is an agreement between his side and Inter that would see the 17-year-old midfielder move to Italy.
“The situation is simple,” Niang said.
“There is an agreement with Inter and Sochaux has an agreement on the figures so we are close to closing
“The only small detail is how these amounts will be paid so that the club can give the best guarantees when it goes to the organisation in charge of overseeing the accounts of the French companies.”
It looks like the fee will be in the region of €4.5m and Arsenal, along with Manchester City, are waiting eagerly on the sidelines in case anything goes wrong according to Niang.
“I think we will end with Inter,” he added. “There were also Manchester City and Arsenal, who are waiting. But this is not the priority choice of the player.
“There would have been more speed with these two clubs, but once again we worked on the desire of the player.”
Agoumé is a central midfielder who can also play a more attacking role and is further proof that Arsenal are scouring the market for young talent in their late teens because they can’t really afford many fully-grown players.
