Dani Ceballos has hinted that he could leave Real Madrid this summer to enjoy his football, despite denying he actively wants a summer departure.
Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with a summer move for Ceballos, who has been impressing at the u21 European Championships.
The midfielder spoke out on his future this week, admitting he wants to feel useful to his team next season.
“I don’t want them [Real Madrid] to sell me,” Ceballos told Onda Cero (via Metro).
“But I want to enjoy myself and feel important, wherever that may be. I have a bit of experience and I believe that next year will be my best year.”
Ceballos has scored two and assisted two in four games from midfield at the u21 Euros.
The 22-year-old also made 34 appearances for Real Madrid last season, but he really fell out of favour towards the end of the campaign, failing for feature in any of the club’s final four Champions League games and just one of their final nine league matches.
At the start of June, reports suggested Arsenal had joined Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in showing an interest in Ceballos.
AS then claimed Arsenal would be willing to meet Real Madrid’s valuation. Though at around €50m, that seems unlikely.
Arsenal were meant to be on the lookout for an Aaron Ramsey replacement this summer, so Ceballos could fill in that position.
It does seem like the midfield rumours have gone quiet recently though, with most of the talk surrounding defenders and wingers.
