Arsenal Finally Agree To Sell Monreal, But Only on One Condition…

Arsenal are working on the assumption that Nacho Monreal will remain with the club next season as things stand, and they’d only sell for a good offer.

That’s according to Spanish journalist Kike Marin, who writes that ‘in principle’, Arsenal are counting on the left-back for next season.

The club are aware of the need to raise money for signings, so they’d only sell on for a good offer.

Monreal has a contract with Arsenal until 2020, though reports differ over the exact nature of his current deal.

Some claim that the Gunners simply activated his one-year extension clause to 2020, whilst others claim he’s signed a new deal (also to 2020), but with an additional one-year clause to extend it to 2021 if desired.

Either way, the Spaniard is clearly not out of contract right now, as he would’ve been released by the club on July 1st.

As a result, Real Sociedad’s reported interest will have to be followed up with a cash bid.

For once, it seems Arsenal have actually managed to avoid losing a player garnering interest for free.

Whether they hold onto him or end up selling will now depend on Sociedad’s willingness to pay up.
