Forget Tierney: Arsenal working on Shock Deal for Another Defender

Arsenal are keeping tabs on AC Milan full-back Ricardo Rodriguez, after being put off by Celtic’s £25m price tag for Kieran Tierney.

Scottish outlet Daily Record claims Arsenal have turned their noses up at Celtic’s price tag for the young left-back, and they’re now starting to look elsewhere for their next signing in the position.

Rodriguez is the apparent alternative target, and he’d cost around £14m.

This isn’t the first time Arsenal have been linked with a move for Rodriguez. Last summer, the English media reported that the Gunners were looking at the left-back to cover for the injured Sead Kolasinac and Nacho Monreal.

In the end, that move appeared to break down over the player’s unwillingness to leave Milan. It’s possible they could revive it this summer though, particularly given Milan’s problems with Financial Fair Play and their resulting Europa League ban.

The suggestion from elsewhere is that Arsenal can still sign Tierney if they want to, despite Napoli’s interest. At this stage, the club just don’t seem to be keen to invest that kind of money on the player though.
