Arsenal have put a price tag of £9m on Laurent Koscielny this summer, after the defender refused to travel on the club’s pre-season tour.

The Evening Standard report that Arsenal want €10m (£9m) to let their club captain leave his contract a year early. Koscielny reportedly asked to be released for free, but the Gunners understandably rejected that request.

Bordeaux are willing to offer Koscielny a three-year contract, whilst Arsenal were planning to give the centre-back a year extension on top of the year he already has left.

Koscielny wants a three-year deal, so the Ligue 1 offer is more appealing to him.

On the other side of things, Bordeaux appear unwilling to actually pay money to sign Koscielny, whilst Arsenal already have the Frenchman under contract.

The Gunners clearly have the upper hand in that department.

Realistically, Arsenal aren’t going to get £9m for Koscielny, just like Crystal Palace aren’t going to get £100m for Wilfried Zaha.

This is how negotiations work, and Arsenal would likely let Koscielny go for a reasonable offer. £0 is not a reasonable offer.
