Everton Soares has confirmed he has a transfer offer, and he can’t guarantee he’ll play for current club Gremio on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media in Brazil (via Radio Grenal), Everton made the revelation, saying: “I have an offer. I can’t speak to the club. I can’t guarantee I’ll play on Wednesday against Bahia, let’s see.”
Brazilian outlet Globoesporte report that new technical director Edu Gaspar has made contact with Everton’s representatives, and Arsenal are considering submitting a bid for the winger.
Edu reportedly spoke with the player’s agent in Brazil before even joining up with the Gunners. Gremio want €40m for the player, and Arsenal seemingly have to compete with Atletico Madrid, Napoli, Manchester United and Bayern Munich for his signature.
Globoesporte have been pretty reliable for news relating to Arsenal and Brazil recently. They reported the club’s move for Edu all the way back in January, as well as the transfer of Gabriel Martinelli in March.
UOL, another Brazilian outlet who reported Martinelli’s transfer a long time before it came to pass, also confirm Arsenal’s interest.
Whether Arsenal actually have the funds to follow up their enquiry is another matter, but their interest certainly appears to be genuine.
Everton caught the eye in Brazil’s Copa America 2019 triumph, scoring three goals and assisting two in six appearances (four starts). He’s also scored six goals and assisted one in 12 games for Gremio in 2019.
