Today is transfer deadline and we bring you news from England regarding the latest moves. Scotland defender Kieran Tierney has been pictured in London and has completed his medical ahead of a big money move from Celtic.
It is understood that Arsenal had reached an agreement with Celtic on Wednesday for the marauding left-back. This came after the Scottish champions had rejected three different offers for the 22-year-old.
Sky Sports reports that the London club have agreed to pay a transfer fee of £25 million for the defender. Tierney is seen as an upgrade in the left back position with current option Sead Kolasinac failing to impress since his move from Schalke in 2016.
Tierney is expected to sign a five-year contract worth £75,000 a week. Arsenal fans have been celebrating the imminent arrival of the defender with club legend Charlie Nicholas believing that his signing shows intent on the Gunners part to compete for titles.
According to Nicholas, Arsenal have signed a quality player capable of making the club stronger in the defence.
“Tierney has improved a lot, he’d be better than what Arsenal currently have. I think it’s a high price, he’s been a treble-treble winner and it’s been an awkward situation for him, but I think the time is right for him to move on.
The 22-year-old was successful in Scotland, winning five League titles and the treble during his time at the club.
