Bayern Munich are interested in landing Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock after he made an impression against them in the International Champions Cup the previous month, according to Sky Sports.

The 19-year-old ace has been one of the standout stars of the Gunners’ pre-season, featuring regularly in manager Unai Emery’s plans and holding his own against die Roten and Barcelona amongst others.

Joe is thought of extremely highly at the club and has already featured 17 times for the senior team, including in the UEFA Europa League final last campaign when he came on as a late substitute.

The Germans’ interest in him follows on from their long-term pursuit of another talented young English ace in Callum Hudson-Odoi who now appears set to remain with Chelsea.

Although Arsenal have boosted their roster with the high-profile players of Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos, they’re expected to integrate some of their academy products next season.

Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson have both been tipped to prove themselves at Arsenal following loan stints in Germany with RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim respectively the last term.

The Spanish head coach has challenged Willock to stake a claim for a senior-team place, saying in July:

‘I really, really think that he made one more step last year during the season and he finished it very well with us, playing 12 minutes in the final against Chelsea with a big performance.’

‘We now want him to take another step more in his capacity to be with us, with a big help in our performance and our idea.’
