London club have reportedly opened negotiations with both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette over signing new contracts with the Gunners.

Arsenal have had an impressive summer transfer window with Spanish coach signing in William Saliba, Kieran Tierney, David Luiz, Dani Ceballos, Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Martinelli. The French striker has enjoyed a prolific spell in Arsenal thus far, scoring 36 goals in 88 matches.

In turn, they will feel confident that they’ve signed the necessary reinforcements to make a strong offer to break back into the top four in the Premier League this campaign and compete for titles.

Equally as important as buying new players to bolster the squad is keeping fundamental footballers at the club for the long-term future. Gunners have opened discussions with Auba and Alexandre over signing contract extensions, but their hopes of getting deals done very soon rather than later may have taken a hit.

It’s added in the report that in the case of Alexandre in particular, he may well wait until the end of this campaign to see if the London club have qualified for the Champions League, as not only would it potentially consequence in a more lucrative contract for him, but if Arsenal fail to do so, he would perhaps look at a move another club.

Perhaps with other footballers having same demands as it will be three years without being in Europe’s premier tournaments, it seems imperative that the Gunners secure a top-four finish this campaign to not only match their wishes but also of their star footballers.
