The Spanish manager Unai Emery is hopeful he’ll be able to select Sead Kolasinac and Mesut Ozil for Arsenal’s next match.

The Arsenal manager was forced to drop the pair from his matchday roster that beat Newcastle United on Sunday due to concerns about their safety.

Sead and Mesut were victims of an attempted carjacking last month, with the Arsenal defender fighting off an armed attacker.

Another incident is understood to have occurred outside Mesut’s home, forcing Arsenal to leave former Germany midfielder and the Bosnian star out of their season opener.

After a 1-0 win against Newcastle, Emery was questioned if the pair would be available for Arsenal’s next match, which will be against Burnley next Saturday.

‘The club is managing that situation. We want to be available with them,’ Unai said.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s classy finish was the difference between the Gunners and Magpies in what was a tight game.

Neither club created many clear-cut chances, with the midfielder Jonjo Shelvey hitting the post in the first half. Kolasinac and Ozil took a full part in Arsenal’s pre-season campaign and are key players in Unai’s side.

In other news, New Arsenal player Kieran Tierney has reportedly broken the Gunners’ record for the vertical jump during his first medical after completing a £25 million transfer from Celtic. He continues to recover from a hernia operation.

However, according to The Mirror, this affliction didn’t stop Tierney from setting a new record for the standing vertical jump, managing a height of 55cm, eclipsing Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang’s 54cm.
