According to Aksam, Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny wanted to prove himself once again by joining Besiktas on a season-long loan deal.
Yesterday the Egyptian midfielder touched down in Turkey ahead of his temporary move to Istanbul, and it’s said he wants to be a success with Besiktas following a tough period with Arsenal.
According to the Turkish newspaper, the former Basel player spoke with Unai Emery at the start of the season and the Spanish head coach reportedly told him he didn’t need him for this campaign.
Following this discussion with the Arsenal boss, Elneny took the decision to leave the Premier League side as he didn’t want to sit on the sidelines whilst collecting his salary.
During transfer talks with Besiktas board members Elneny said he wants to play regularly and his ambition reportedly impressed them.
Bip Spor’s İbrahim Seten also claims the player will join Besiktas on a loan deal for free, and he will earn €2.5m for the season. The redemption clause has been agreed with the Gunners, and is set at €18m.
