Arsenal legend Tony Adams has backed Dani Ceballos to provide the link needed between the midfield and the Gunners attack this season.
Ceballos has been impressive since joining Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid in the summer, chipping in with a couple of assists on his full debut.
And after being dropped to the bench for the 2-2 draw with bitter rivals Tottenham on Sunday, the Spaniard looked good after he came on in the second-half.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, and Nicolas Pepe pulling the strings going forward, Ceballos could become an integral player for Unai Emery, according to Adams.
The former defender believe that the Gunners attack can help make up for the team’s frailties at the back.
“We’ve just got to sort out the other end of the pitch, really. All over the place,” Adams told Premier League Productions.
“We’re not pulling the strings, we’re not feeding the front three.
“If we can get the ball into the front three you can see what they can do.
“Then just hope for the best at the back, I think that’s all you can do with this mob.
“Ceballos coming on and starting to make us tick, I think he was impressive.
“Just because you’ve got the three strikers, you need someone to link it.”
Adams added that he feels Emery could have the makings of a really good team if the defensive issues could be sorted out.
Arsenal had one of the worst defensive records out of the teams in the top half of the Premier League last season, especially away from home.
Indeed, the team only managed one away clean sheet in the Premier League in the last campaign.
“Actually, if we got a good back four in place we’d be going places, I think,” Adams added.
“That’s the problem, I was disappointed in the summer that we didn’t get someone, or two big, strong defenders.
“Because you’ve seen up the other end they are scoring goals for fun.”
