The Marvel and Spiderman actor Tom Holland seemed offended when it was suggested he was a fan of Arsenal
Arsenal are looking to bounce back from a number of seasons of mediocrity after a strong transfer window.
The Gunners broke their club record signing to secure the acquisition of Nicolas Pepe from Lille for £72m.
The Ivorian was joined by the likes of Dani Ceballos, David Luiz and Kieran Tierney as Unai Emery plots a way back into the Premier League top four.
Arsenal are a worldwide brand and have attracted fans around the globe – including a number of celebrities.
Among their star supporters are Jay-Z, the Queen and Mo Farah.
But one man who was quick to dismiss rumours he followed the Gunners is Tom Holland, better known by some as Spiderman.
The 23-year-old grew up in Kingston-Upon-Thames, London and was thought to have been an Arsenal fan.
An image resurfaced on social media showing the Marvel actor in a Gunners kit.
As he was answering questions from fans, he balked at one suggestion that he was a supporter of the north London side.
He said: “This is not true at all.
“I played for the Arsenal vets once, and that’s not because I’m good at football, it’s because they were short that many players.
“I am a fan of a football club but I will not tell anyone what it is because I don’t want to make people angry.
“You can probably guess who they are if you’re a football fan, but I’ve kept that pretty secret. I don’t know why, but no one really knows.”
Holland has currently starred in five Marvel films: Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).
As for Arsenal, they are next in action after the international break on September 15 when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road.
