The Gunners boss is “fiery when he tells you you’ve done something wrong”, Nelson says
Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson has revealed Unai Emery has a “fiery side” as well as “joking with the players”.
The Gunners star has returned to the squad after a season on loan at German side Hoffenheim.
Nelson scored seven goals in 29 games for the Bundesliga team.
And he has already made two appearances for Arsenal this season.
Emery, into his second season at the Emirates, has come under pressure from fans for tactical decisions.
But Nelson has revealed the impact the Spaniard has had in north London.
Speaking on the club’s official YouTube channel, the 19-year-old said: “He’s very positive.
“He always tells us to express ourselves.
“But he’s also got a fiery bit where he would tell you you’ve done something wrong.
“That’s good for a coach to have two sides.
“Especially for me, it helps me a lot to improve and keep going.
“He helps a lot of the young players, gives them a great chance.”
The forward went on to make a big claim for the season.
“Even with all the competition and the wingers they’ve signed, I think it will be my time this year,” Nelson added.
“I need to keep training hard and getting information from the coaches and players.
“I’ve got to take things easy, take steps and do the basics.
“Once I do that hopefully Ill get the chance.”
It comes after Emery issued a warning to Granit Xhaka after his tackle against rivals Tottenham.
