Arsenal youngster Emiliano Martínez is set to receive a call-up to the senior Argentina squad this week, reports TYC Sports.
The Argentine currently finds himself as number two at the Emirates behind Bernd Leno but has seen his first-team opportunities increase under Unai Emery this season.
Last week saw him play his first 90 minutes of the season, keeping a clean sheet in Arsenal’s impressive 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
He followed that up with another clean sheet on Tuesday evening as he once again played 90 minutes in the 5-0 defeat of Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.
His emergence has seemingly caught the eye of Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni, with TYC saying it is ‘practically a fact’ Martínez will be part of his squads to take on Germany and Ecuador.
Martínez is set to benefit from the fact that goalkeepers Franco Armani and Esteban Andrada are both unavailable as they’re playing in the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores.
Nonetheless, his performances as Arsenal number one over the last week will only help to encourage Scaloni that selecting the 27-year-old would represent a smart choice.
It will be the first time Martínez has been called up to the senior squad, having played for Argentina’s U17 and U20 sides previously.
