Emile Smith Rowe
The attacking midfielder started the game against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup but was taken off after a clash of heads.
Sources close to the player have confirmed to football.london that Smith Rowe suffered a concussion and no damage to his head. Having been assessed by the club’s medical staff he was driven home.
Speaking after the game, Unai Emery said: “He received a knock to his head. It was for precaution we changed him. It’s not a serious problem.”
Asked if it’s a concussion, Emery said: “It’s one knock in his head.”
According to PremierInjuries, Smith Rowe is rated with a 50% chance of being fit enough to make the match day squad for the clash against Manchester United.
Arsenal have been dealt a major injury blow, as the club have confirmed that the striker will be out of action until at least October with an ankle injury.
A statement via the club’s official website read: “After assessments to an ongoing ankle issue, we have advised that Alex will need to rest and strengthen his ankle to regain full fitness.
“Alex has been playing through this injury for several weeks. He is likely to be back in action in October.”
On the announcement of the injury, the Frenchman has posted a message to fans on social media.
“Already started my rehab and looking to the future.. Thanks everyone for your messages!!” He wrote.
