Arsenal will be aiming to make it two wins out of two in the Europa League group stage when they face Standard Liege at the Emirates Stadium this Thursday night.

The Gunners went away to Eintracht Frankfurt and won 3-0 two weeks ago to kick start their campaign in the right way.

They now have a home game against the Belgian outfit and a win would keep them at the top of the table.

In terms of overall performances, Unai Emery’s men have really struggled to provide an attractive brand of football and they remain susceptible at the back.

Even though, on paper, the game against Liege doesn’t look that tough, Arsenal will have to be ready for a fight if they are to get all three points.

Kieran Tierney was a doubt for this game, but is now available for selection if required. Alexandre Lacazette continues to nurse his injury and may return by the end of this month.

Here’s how we think Emery may line his team up:

GK – EMILIANO MARTINEZ

Arsenal’s second-choice keeper is certain to be in goal for this Europa League game. He was fantastic in Frankfurt.

RB – HECTOR BELLERIN

The Spaniard played for the youth team over the weekend to enhance his fitness levels. He should be given a start on Thursday.

CB – SHKODRAN MUSTAFI

Mustafi is now a backup centre-back in this team, meaning these are the games where he will get his chance to impress the manager.

CB – ROB HOLDING

The youngster is yet to return to full match fitness. A start on Thursday would help him to get more valuable game time ahead of being back to his best.

LB – AINSLEY MAITLAND-NILES

Sead Kolasinac is expected to get a rest, while Tierney’s situation isn’t clear about his injury. Hence, we could see Maitland-Niles at left-back against Liege.

CM – LUCAS TORREIRA

He played 55 minutes of football on Monday against Manchester United. It means he should be fresh to start on Thursday.

CM – JOE WILLOCK

The youngster came off the bench against United. He is certain to replace Matteo Guendouzi in midfield. The latter deserves a rest for this game.

RW – GABRIEL MARTINELLI

The youngster hasn’t had much game time yet. He could get some on Thursday on the right wing against the Belgian side.

CAM – MESUT OZIL

The former Germany international didn’t even travel to Manchester for the game on Monday. He should start on Thursday at the Emirates.

LW – REISS NELSON

Bukayo Saka has played a lot of games in a short space of time. It means he shouldn’t be selected to start on Thursday.

For that reason, Nelson might get an opportunity on the left wing.

ST – PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG

With Lacazette still out, Arsenal’s best player of this season is certain to continue leading the line.
