Arsenal boss Unai Emery has stated it is too soon for the club to be considering signing Dani Ceballos on a permanent basis.

The midfieder is on a season-long loan from Real Madrid and has impressed since arriving at the Emirates in the summer.

Speculation has suggested the Gunners are hopeful of landing Ceballos for £30 million at the end of his loan period.

But Emery has moved to play down reports, and insists his primary aim is to improve Ceballos’s work in the team, rather than any potential transfer plans.

“I think it is very soon to say that,” Emery said. “Ceballos is doing great things here, he is playing regularly.

“Of course I know he has a lot of potential and I think this is just the beginning.

“The ultimate goal for me with Ceballos is that he can bring us all his potential and help us to achieve all our goals as a team, with more positive performances. We are more than happy to count on him.”

Ceballos’s signing was deemed quite a coup when Emery loaned him from Madrid.

The 23-year-old made 26 appearances for the Los Blancos last season, and was still eligible to play a starring role in Spain’s win at the under-21 European championships in the summer.

He has so far made 11 appearances for Arsenal in total, although almost half of those have come as a substitute.
