AC Milan are ready to offer Granit Xhaka an escape from Arsenal during the January transfer window, a report claims.
Things have rather fallen apart for the Swiss international in north London since he stormed off the pitch after being substituted in the Gunners’ recent 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.
The club captain threw the armband away then made his way off to a chorus of cheers, to which he responded by cupping his ears and shouting expletives back at the home fans before heading straight down the tunnel.
Xhaka has since apologised for his actions but has been officially stripped of the captaincy, and according to The Times he is ready to leave in January after being ‘hurt’ by recent events.
The Rossoneri meanwhile are struggling themselves having lost six league games out of 11 to start the season, something which hasn’t happened since 1941.
As a result, the club are determined to add more experience and leadership to a very young squad, and this is where the two situations could prove to be a match.
According to The Guardian’s ‘Rumour Mill’ – who cite ‘reports in Italy’ – Milan are ready to offer Xhaka an escape from Arsenal in order to satisfy their own needs.
The 27-year-old arrived from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach for €40m back in 2016 and has made 144 appearances for the club since, amassing 11 goals and 17 assists.
Interestingly, transfermarkt.de still have his current valuation at £36m (€40m.
